WordPress Theme: Pretty In Pink

The color pink doesn’t always need to be delicate. The goal of Pretty In Pink is to make the color pink a lot edgier than it normally is without forsaking its delicacy.
Pretty In Pink is a fluid two column WordPress theme, which means it will expand or contract to fill the available browser space, and it supports WordPress widget. The default sidebar will be used if the plugin isn’t installed or activated. Pretty In Pink has been tested in the most recent (stable) versions of IE and Firefox and the code is W3C validated.
Please be sure to read the theme use before downloading and using this theme. If you spot any bugs or have suggestions for improvement, feel free to leave a comment.

Thank you so much for the lovely themes you have made
I uploaded two of your themes, this one and pastel paradise, but when I view the site, the sidebar appears underneath the content on the index page, but displays perfectly, right where it should be when viewing an individual post. Tried in both Firefox and IE, same problem.
www.grumpyoldwoman.net/images/screen1.jpg shows the problem at the index page and same URL screen2.jpg shows the individual post view.
or, maybe it’s just me that broke it!

Hi Eve,
Thanks for letting me know (and for the screenshots).
I’ve made a minor tweak to the CSS file and it should work properly now - the overflow from extra long lines is being hidden so it should no longer push the sidebar down.
Do let me know if the problem persists and I’ll have another look.

Thanks for doing that, but alas, the problem still exists.
Did some further detective work and believe I’ve found the problem (and yes, it is on my end).
I inserted styling as per http://codex.wordpress.org/Wrapping_Text_Around_Images
on my old style sheet as I wanted to put some text inline with my images. So, on the pages where i have used the “caption right” (or left) div tag, it breaks your sidebar. (both on the post listing index pages and on the individual post page). Where the tag is not used, the sidebar displays perfectly!
Sorry about that! I do so like to have some text beside my images though, so I need to think about whether to retag those images or not.
Thanks again

No problem, Eve,
Thanks for getting back to me and explaining the situation.
You also reminded me that I need to update the read me with information about image styling.
I’ve actually added some CSS styling for images as well as general classes for floating objects left or right.
Thanks again!

Thank you for the theme! It had all the features that I was looking for, but it was too pink. So, I hacked it. Funny thing, many men think it is still too pink….
I love the work you did on this!!!

WP Diva, is there a way to take out the gradual pink-to-white under the title behind the posts so the background is white behind all the post? Thanks!

Hi Kim,
If you’re talking about the gradient under the solid black line up top, then you’d need to edit the header image in Photoshop or another image editing program.
Hope that helps.

I finally figured out how to download this theme so it shows up in my editor page. But the images are not showing (header or background). Everything else is working automatically. Is there something I’m not doing concerning the “widget” format? I’m pretty new to this. I love the Pretty In Pink theme! Thanks!

I found the problem. I had previously been using the default page, and had set the header to a different color. When I reset the header to the default color, the Pretty In Pink header (and bcakground?) came up!! I love the theme!

Hi Gaylynn (pretty name),
The problem you’re having doesn’t have to do with widgets.
It looks as though you’re hotlinking my images from the demo site in your header.php file. I’d prefer you didn’t.
When you downloaded the Pretty In Pink theme, it should come with its own image folder containing the background images. Make sure that the folder was uploaded along with the theme. I suggest using an FTP client for this step.
After uploading the entire theme to your WordPress themes folder, you should have a structure that looks similar to /wp-content/themes/pretty-in-pink/ and also /wp-content/themes/pretty-in-pink/images/. In the images folder, there is a body-bg.jpg file. If the file isn’t there, then you’ll need to upload it.
Activating the theme means it will look for the images in the image folder on your own site.
